In 2021, Nextfor launched a series of “Forest-Based Biocomposite” Forums to bring industry experts and innovators together to identify the challenges and opportunities for bringing forest-based biocomposites and bioplastics to market in Ontario.

Over the last year, we have been working with the Fraunhofer Innovation Platform for Composites Research at Western University to understand the identified challenges and opportunities and to create an opportunity roadmap for the province.

Nextfor has also launched the 2022 Next-Generation Forest-Based Biomaterials Funding Challenge.

On Thursday October 13, 2022 Nextfor held an in-person innovation forum in Toronto, ON. This forum focused on bringing Forest-Based Biomaterials to market, specifically:

  • Mobilizing research in Forest-Based Biomaterials
  • Identifying opportunities for Forest-Based Biomaterials
  • Next steps in value chain development and Nextfor programming
