The province of Ontario has an abundance of available fibre that is currently underutilized. There is an opportunity to put wood to work, with close to 16 million m3 of merchantable material and an additional 6 million m3 of unmerchantable available.
This roadmap aims to identify the technologies and providers for converting sawmill chips to marketable products, analyzing the enabling factors required to implement each technology, as well as reviewing the residual softwood chip availability and available hardwood supply for short and medium-term opportunities.
