Growing Our Forest Future
See agenda below for our May 1st innovation forum.
We are working to identify the challenges and opportunities for bringing forest-based biocomposites and biomaterials to market in Ontario.
Lignin is the binder that holds the fibers of plants together and makes them strong and rigid. Throughout the Canadian forest sector, lignin has traditionally been treated as a low-quality, low-value byproduct. When extracted and processed, however, this abundant raw material can be used in a wide variety of applications to displace traditional fossil-based chemicals and products.
Lignin-Specific ResourcesNextfor launched a series of Innovation Forums in biocomposites and biomaterials.
In collaboration with the Fraunhofer Innovation Platform for Composites Research at Western University, Nextfor created an opportunity roadmap for the biocomposites and biomaterials market in Ontario.
Nextfor also launched the Next-Generation Forest-Based Biomaterials funding challenge.
Stay tuned for project announcements and updates!
